Common things people ask before signing an engagement.

What's the difference between SEO and AEO/GEO?

They have similar goals: you’re trying to find the intersection of what a user wants to search for, where they do it, and how your content can get in front of them. For AEO/GEO, the goal is to get your brand mentioned in AI answers by getting cited from your website or through other sites. In SEO, you’re trying to rank your page the highest for a search query.

Can you do AEO/GEO without SEO?

Not really. Even if you only focus on and track AEO/GEO results, any changes to pages, off-site work for brand mentions, etc. will all impact how you show up in search results too. The opposite is also true, you want to make sure any optimization for one channel doesn’t negatively impact your other channels. They should support each other since they have so much overlap and share the same core principles.

How long does AEO/GEO take to see results?

Results depend on relative competition. If your competition doesn’t have much presence for the prompts you care about, results can land within days or weeks of publishing. If your brand has no reputation across the web, or your site is fairly new or lacks content, then it’ll be a longer journey to gain visibility.

How can you influence AEO/GEO results?

It starts with understanding how your audience uses these platforms. We create prompts and track which brands get mentioned and which sources get cited. Then we help you build content to become a citation source, or help you get included in the sources that are already cited. Overall brand work also heavily influences AI results because of the coverage you’ll earn across social platforms, review sites, and forums.
